Each of the computer users every two to three years, or even more often, changes the keyboard - buys a new one and throws away the old one. And here is the artist Sarah Frost gives these obsolete devices the right to a new life, much longer than they had before. She creates from old keyboards of the installation.
It happens that even such purely practical technical devices as keyboards inspire artists to be creative. An example of this is the painted Keyboard Art or the work of the American artist Sarah Frost.
Moreover, the latter uses not just keyboards, but old devices thrown away by their owners. She has agreements with large companies and government agencies, and they give Sarah their devices for free, which are going to be replaced with new ones.
And then Sarah Frost turns these obsolete keyboards into works of art, installations. She pulls keys out of them and uses them to create huge paintings (if these works can be called that).
Sarah Frost focuses on the fact that each of the elements that she uses to create her installations has a huge history. Each of these keys remembers thousands and thousands of finger touches to it. That is why the pictures consisting of them are remembered by the millions of pages printed on keyboards, of which these keys were once a part.
Moreover, from the outside it may seem that the work of Sarah Frost is a meaningless set of keys from old keyboards. But, in fact, if you look closely at them, then among the seemingly random set of elements you can find many meaningful parts - words, phrases and whole paragraphs.
To thank the companies that give Sarah Frost their old keyboards, the artist donates her installations to them. But her work weighs not only in the offices of these corporations, but also in many museums in America and the world, including the most reputable ones.
