For someone gluttony - this is one of the seven deadly sins, for others - a way of life, and for the third - a great reason to compete. These competitions, of course, do not bring much benefit to the health of the participants and hardly promote a healthy lifestyle, but the fact remains: New york The epic Hot Dog Eating Championship is held annually, attracting 40,000 live viewers and another 2 million live.
The Gluttony Challenge is held every year on July 4th, US Independence Day, in Coney Island. They are organized by the venerable (opened in 1916) chain of restaurants and fast food establishments Nathan's Famous, which has huge advertising dividends from this. Competitions of this level are not complete without intrigue. Last year, the victory was snatched from the mouth of the Americans by the gluttonous Japanese Takeru Kobayashi. But due to disagreements with the jury and the Major League of Food, Kobayashi was, in fact, disqualified and banned from the current competition. As a result Gluttony Champion 2011 became a four-time winner of these competitions Joey Chestnut nicknamed "Jaws". He dealt with 62 hot dogs (and his record is 68). But during the competition, Takeru Kobayashi climbed onto a nearby roof and defiantly ate 69 hot dogs for the same time! It became clear to everyone who a real dock of gluttony.
Still, the coveted $ 10,000 prize went to Joey Chestnut, and another - to Sonia Thomas, nicknamed "Black Widow". This lovely woman sentenced in 10 minutes 40 hot dogs.
