Who said that in times of crisis it is difficult to dress original and tastefully? Fashion designer Gary Harvey definitely has a different opinion on this. He can take a pair of jeans, old newspapers, long waterproof coats or army jackets and turn them into elegant ball gowns that any fashionista will delight in.
Gary Harvey is a former creative director at Levi Strauss. He began creating his quirky dresses while working on one of his freelance fashion campaigns. Wanting to get a shotgun effect, the designer took 42 pairs of Levi's jeans and turned them into a dress. Since then, his passion for eco-fashion began.
The designer's first collection was shown in February 2007 at London Fashion Week. This unusual show, according to Gary Harvey, should change people's perception of second-hand clothing and add an element of consciousness to the world of fashion. People put on a thing once or twice and then discard it because it suddenly starts to be considered unfashionable or outdated. However, such things have the right to a second life, and the work of Gary Harvey is the best proof of this!
But secondhand clothing isn't the only material a designer uses. His eco-friendly dresses are based on shopping bags, newspapers, and even the most ordinary trash!
