While some authors in their work try to master the latest achievements of progress, others remember their grandmother's knitting lessons and, using yarn, create equally talented works. For example, Joe Hamilton crochets portraits of people in a way that not everyone can draw!

Joe Hamilton learned to knit at the age of 6 thanks to her grandmother, but she decided to be creative in a different direction. She successfully graduated from art school in Glasgow (Scotland), where she studied drawing and painting. However, ten years later, Joe visited the Museum of Modern Crafts in Portland, and the exhibition impressed her so much that she decided to remember her grandmother's old lessons. This is how yarn and a crochet hook appeared in her creative workshop.

Joe Hamilton knits from photographs. For the first three years she worked with landscapes and then switched to creating portraits. In one of her collections, 'I Crochet Portland' (I knit Portland), she combined her skills, depicting portraits of local people and cityscapes. Looking at the technique in which Joe's works are made, one cannot fail to notice that the lessons at the art school were not in vain for her: it seems that she does not just knit, but draws with threads.
