Man has always aspired to the sky and tried to fulfill this dream in a variety of ways. Austrian Anna Rubin, for example, has been creating kites for more than ten years and at the same time claims that when her creation flies in the sky, it seems to her that it is she who is flying.

Anna Rubin started making kites in 1999. At the time, she was a student at the Art Academy in Vienna and decided to present her models as her thesis. One would think that the girl loved flying kites from childhood, or at least often saw others doing it. However, in reality, everything was exactly the opposite: “I am from Carinthia,” says Anna, “and there is never a good wind there. I remember how we flew kites with our parents a couple of times: we ran, but the snakes still remained on the ground. And yet I chose this topic because no one in Vienna had come across this before."

Anna Rubin's first works were symmetrical, then she moved on to asymmetrical models. The main material for creativity is bamboo and hand-made paper, although Anna, like a real artist, experiments with other materials as well. She also claims that her snakes are very feminine: "I cannot imagine that at least one of them could be created by a man."

According to Anna herself, when she creates her kites, she does not think of them as works of art or theoretical models. For her, snakes are, first of all, feelings. This is herself. It is worth reading the description of at least one of her works to understand how much this work means to her: “This serpent is a story of friendship. The man has surrounded himself with a wall, and I cannot get close to him. I always wear a red hat, so it is symbolized by the red spot on the kite. It's me. We are very close, although he was never my boyfriend. After two years I managed to get through the wall, but I never got close to him."

Anna Rubin's kites have a very powerful emotional power. It happened that people began to cry, watching the flight of her works. As they later explained - from an overabundance of feelings.
