Girls from the Neozoon team often buy old fur coats from second-hand shops. Of course, no one is going to wear them. These out-of-fashion, in places rubbed and moth-eaten things are needed by their new owners solely as material for original graffiti. Fur graffiti? Yes, it happens!
The Neozoon team was founded in 2008 with the aim of researching "the relationship between humans and animals in the western urban environment." Over the two years of the team's existence, the curious have not managed to find out who is part of it - neither names, nor appearance. Girls usually work in masks and do not spread any personal information about themselves. So all the attention of the audience has to be directed exclusively to the work of the team, and not to its members.
To create their “fur graffiti”, Neozoon rips up old fur products, then joins them together in the form of an image of one or another animal and glues them to the city walls. Whoever has not appeared on the streets of Paris and Berlin during the two years of the team's work: wolves, foxes, hares, bears, squirrels, wild boars, deer … Girls always very carefully choose places for their works: for example, images of bears appeared in that place, where people used to keep real clubfoot, and the silhouettes of sheep were on the site of a former slaughterhouse.
Throughout history, Neozoon says, people have taken animal killing for food and fashion for granted throughout history. Few people are interested in the fact that these wild creatures also want to live. “We take old fur coats and return them to their previous forms,“revive”them and invite people to think about the fact that these things were once alive. Then only the skin remained of the animals, which the man wore on himself, and now we again return her animal form. Perhaps it brings something wild to our civilized urban society."
