Not so long ago, graffiti was illegal almost all over the world. The city authorities did not like the fact that street artists painted walls and fences with their often not very talented creations. But gradually the negative attitude towards this art form began to change to a much more positive one. Even large-scale festivals have appeared, where the best masters from different countries come, for example, to Sao Paulo or the Roskilde Festival.

The Graffiti Project is part of the Roskilde Rock Festival run by the same people as the festival itself. This project is led by Ars Pederson, who several years ago noticed that graffiti was becoming more and more popular among viewers who came to listen to the music. These works were not always real works of visual art, but nevertheless, there were quite nice works among them. It is this spontaneous undertaking that Pederson decided to support at the official level.

So it was in 2009, as part of the Roskilde festival, the Graffiti Project was launched, in which not only professional graffiti artists can take part, but also anyone who wishes. For this, the stars of the genre conduct master classes, teaching beginners the basics of this democratic art, so that they can immediately apply the knowledge gained in practice.
