Nike, always distinguished by its creative approach to advertising its products, of course, simply could not miss an event like the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. In honor of the World Cup, a huge figure of a football player made from Nike balls appeared in the atrium of one of the major shopping centers in Johannesburg.
The sculpture, dubbed "Ballman", consists of several thousand bright yellow soccer balls suspended from steel wires from the ceiling - it seems that the figure of the football player simply froze in the air. The height of the sculpture is 21 meters, but there is no unity about the number of balls in various sources: different numbers are indicated, but most still agree on three thousand.
The sculpture for Nike was created by the British company Ratcliff Fowler Design. The Ballman must remain in place until the end of the championship. When we find out the new world champion, the sculpture will be dismantled and all the balls will be distributed to South Africa to support local football development programs.
