The idea of using money as jewelry is not new at all. Ringing coins can be seen on necklaces, earrings, belts … But how to use paper money in this way is a more complicated question. However, the young Belgian Tine De Ruysser does not see any difficulties here and enthusiastically makes origami decorations from banknotes.
Tine De Ruysser says that when creating her first collection of banknote jewelry, she decided to treat paper money as the equivalent of gold. In the end, at one time they were invented for this purpose, what to replace coins made of precious metal. “When paper money was first introduced into circulation, their price was equal to gold: it was impossible to issue more banknotes than there was gold in the treasury,” says the author. "Over time, the connection between gold and banknotes has weakened, and everything has become the opposite: now gold costs money, and the latter in the world is much more than gold reserves."
People wear gold jewelry to demonstrate their wealth. Likewise, according to Tine De Ruysser, wearing money around your neck is an indicator of wealth. Even if the banknotes are folded in an unusual way, it is impossible not to understand that this is money. True, it is difficult to discern the denomination of the banknotes in paper jewelry, but you cannot see the sample on the gold chain either.
According to Tine De Ruysser, not a single bill was harmed during the creation of her jewelry: they are all folded, but not cut or glued together. In addition, necklaces and bracelets are quite durable - they do not get wet from a small amount of moisture and do not fall apart for a long time.
Each person decides for himself what to do with his savings, put them into circulation, for example, open an account on Forex or turn them into unusual jewelry. Tine De Ruysser says her paper jewelry is a response to the global financial crisis. “Banks go bankrupt because they deal with virtual money, which is not backed by gold or even paper money in circulation. They are not trusted by depositors and creditors. So why not return to tradition and wear your wealth on yourself, not being afraid of losing it?"
