Generally speaking, it is customary to say about time that it “walks”. But an American artist of Ukrainian descent Dmitry Khristenko in his work makes time not to walk, but to drive! Moreover, he does it in a very extraordinary way!
We have already talked about the unusual work of a Japanese artist named Natsumi Honda, who disassembles an old wristwatch and uses the scrap to create animal sculptures. Dmitry Khristenko is doing something similar. But he is not an animalist, but a technophile.
And, apparently, of all the possible technology, Khristenko prefers motorcycles. After all, it is this transport that Dmitry makes from what was once a desk clock. Metal bracelets, for example, in these original handicrafts are transformed into tires, the clockwork into a motor, the buckle into an armchair, dials into wheels, and glass into a windshield.
Dmitry Khristenko made friends with the owners of all watch repair shops in the city where he lives. So they regularly supply new materials for his work. Several hours of persistent inspired work, a screwdriver, a tube of glue - and old clockwork mechanisms turn into extraordinary vehicles: bicycles, ATVs, but mainly motorcycles.
However, the watch in the hands of Dmitry Khristenko turns not only into transport. He also produces wonderful sculptures of animals, insects, humans and robots. Where can we go without steampunk!
