The world of collections and the "get-together" of collectors is wide and varied. So, in the world, probably, there is no such item that would not become an object for collecting in one form or another. And in Turkey, in the city of Avanos, in Cappadocia, there lives a potter named Chez Galip, in which in the basement of the workshop there is a whole museum of … women's hair … The number of multi-colored strands of different lengths totals more than 16,000 copies. When asked how the museum began, Chez Galip tells a half-legend-half-story about how 30 years ago his girlfriend was going to go very far and for a very long time, and so that he would not be sad, she left him a lock of her hair as a souvenir. Seeing this strand tied with a ribbon, grateful visitors to Chez Galip's shop also began to leave their hair as a souvenir, carefully writing down the wishes of his business and their coordinates on notes, which were then attached to each left strand.
So, the first strand of hair appeared on the wall of the basement-cave under the workshop back in 1979, and since then the collection of the amazing museum has been growing relentlessly, replenishing more and more copies. The walls and ceilings of the room are completely covered with "fur" made of natural hair, and given that Turkey is a country beloved by tourists who like everything unusual, the collection of Ces Galip is not destined to become scarce, and the museum is not destined to wither.
In addition, twice a year, in June and December, the master allows the first visitor to his pottery shop to select 10 strands in the museum, in order to then invite their former owners to take a free master class in his workshop, providing the lucky ones with full board in his home, which for some time now it has turned into a mini-hotel. At one time, the underground Hair Museum in Avanos entered the Guinness Book of Records.
