Recently, all over the world there has been a tendency to switch everything and everything from hydrocarbon energy sources to renewable, "green" ones. To promote this undertaking, the artist Fred George created an unusual sculpture called Solar Peace Sculpture.
Fred George is an ardent supporter of green technologies and green energy. He also produces these convictions in his work. The Solar Peace Sculpture is just one example of this "social" work of his.
This sculpture is a huge (eighteen meters in diameter) sign "Pacific", that is, a symbol of peace. This structure consists of eighty metal barrels with a volume of just over 150 liters, which symbolize barrels (a standard measure of the volume of oil).
Each of these elements has a solar panel, so the entire Solar Peace Sculpture is a huge solar array. The main purpose of the Solar Peace Sculpture by Fred George is to show that solar energy is a real alternative to oil and other hydrocarbons. Although it is not as profitable as they are, it is environmentally friendly and does not pollute nature.
The first Solar Peace Sculpture was recently installed in a park next to Madison Square Garden in New York City. But in the near future, Fred George plans to deliver similar structures in China's Shanghai and Germany's Saarbrücken.
As we can see, solar panels are slowly becoming a trend in art. Take this Solar Peace Sculpture by Fred George or the faux rainbow by Michael Jones McKean in Omaha, Nebraska.
