Commissioned by a German employment agency "Jobsintown.de" a series of posters was produced to motivate people to change careers if they are not satisfied with it. The creators of this witty and provocative ad drew a parallel between routine work and the functioning of a vending machine and accompanied it with a laconic slogan: "Life is too short to be wasted on inappropriate jobs." ("Life's too short to be in the wrong job").
The impetus for the creation of this series was the statistical data, according to which only 13% of the German population are satisfied with their work. The development of the advertising campaign was entrusted to the Berlin agency "Scholz & Friends"famous for his convincing and sometimes shocking work. For readers Kulturologia it is already known from a series of posters produced for the supermarket chain Fresh'n'Friends and the tabloid Welt-Compakt.
For four years posters "Jobsintown.de" daily trapped workers on the way to their place of work. The posters were placed at the most popular metro stations and in their surroundings, that is, in such public places, which are difficult for a working person to pass.
Advertising posters were placed on vending machines, washing machines and gas stations. And the posters themselves depicted people locked inside these machines and doing mechanical work in their place. Indeed, a person can perform work for many years in which he does not find a single drop of moral satisfaction. By provoking workers to identify with the heroes of these posters, the company "Jobsintown.de" wanted to give decisiveness to people thinking about changing their profession.
It is unknown how the company operates "Jobsintown.de" influenced the percentage of the German population satisfied with their jobs, but the fact that over the four years of the advertising campaign many people followed her advice to change their profession remains an indisputable fact.
