A woman without a purse is like a smoker without a lighter - it is possible, but difficult. A poorly chosen handbag can ruin the first impression of a person, and the mood, and sometimes even personal life or career. However, this can be said about any accessory, but today we will talk specifically about handbags, more precisely, about a new collection of origami bags called Orishikiwho the designer Naoki Kawamoto presented in Tokyo at the famous exhibition DesignTide 2010 … Orishiki handbags are something from the future with an eye to the past. Thus, it was customary for the Japanese to take a small piece of "shiki" cloth with them to the bathhouse, which served first as a rug, and then as something like a homemade bag, into which clothes were wrapped after bathing, changing into everything clean and fresh. Today, the assortment of "furoshiki" (furo - in Japanese "bath") is wide and varied, and it is used both as a backpack or a bag for groceries, and as a portfolio. There are also "ceremonial" furoshiki, where gifts for the holiday and souvenirs are packed for those who came to Japan for a visit.
As for Orishiki, these are the so-called "origami rugs", which consist of multifaceted sheets, dense and solid, and can be folded both into small clutch bags and into real travel suitcases or backpacks. In such bags, you can carry both small things, such as cosmetics, a wallet and personal hygiene items, and bulky ones, such as household appliances, tools, building materials.
The inside and outside of Orishiki are covered with a soft velvety fabric and, if necessary, equipped with internal pockets or straps to prevent the contents from falling out or being damaged during transport. Perhaps, these accessories cannot be called art, but it cannot be denied that they are stylish, original, unusual and undoubtedly attracting attention.
