What happens to a book when its mission to teach, tell, and advise is complete? At best, it gathers dust on a shelf, in a suitcase in the mezzanine or in the attic. We will not talk about the worst. It is known, however, that people with skillful hands and irrepressible imagination use old literature, which is hardly useful for posterity for creativity. BookOfArt this is another way to turn a book into an art object without using a knife and scissors. About 10 years ago, the spouses Veronica and Isaac saw unusual sculptures at an exhibition of contemporary art, the author of which used unnecessary magazines, brochures and collections for work. It turned out very beautiful and original, so much so that the couple was eager to decorate their apartment with something similar. However, a lot of time has passed since then, the couple changed their apartment and they needed decorations for the bedroom, guest room and living room. Then Isaac wondered if he could turn the most ordinary book into a sculpture, similar to those that he and his wife saw at the exhibition. And so their creative career began.
Unlike other book sculptors, Isaac does not carve his creations into the book. He just skillfully folds the pages, like folding a sheet of paper, making an origami figurine. However, the process of turning a book into origami is much more complicated and subtle, and the result is a sculpture literally "ingrown" into the spine.
Veronica and Isaac sell their works at a price of $ 20 or more, depending on the complexity of the work, the number of pages, and the wishes of the client. So, you can order a book from a spouse with your own name, some word, figure or even a phrase. The couple live in Texas, and you can see their work in the etsy online store.
