Of course, anyone can draw simple illustrations, for this it is not even necessary to be called an artist. But how to draw so that for your seemingly simple work they give prestigious international awards? James Jean probably knows the answer, who draws in completely different techniques and on different topics, without limiting himself to any framework, and wins dozens prizes.
James Jean is an American with Taiwanese blood. He was born in Taiwan but raised in New Jersey. He studied at the Fine Arts Institute in New York. Upon graduation in 2001, he was immediately taken over by DC Comix, one of the two major comic book publishing companies in the United States (the second is Marvel, which is better known in our country). There he painted comic book covers and slowly received award after award - seven prizes Eisner, three Harvey Awards, two gold and one silver medals from the Los Angeles Illustrators Society, and one gold medal from the New York City Illustrators Society.
We have probably never written about comic book artists in their pure form. But we touched on a similar theme, meeting the inhabitants of Dick Daniels' fun house, exploding illustrations by Stephen Tompkins and vintage posters by Tom Valen.
Drawings James jean executed in completely different styles - he has works that refer to Japanese animation, there is absolutely crazy surrealism, there are both incredible heroes and completely ordinary people. There are few funny pictures, more sad, aggressive ones. In terms of techniques in his drawings, too, not everything is simple.
The list of his clients will not seem to the majority of empty chatter: in addition to the already mentioned DC Comix, these are Time Magazine, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Spin, ESPN, Atlantic Records, Playboy and other eminent enterprises. In addition, he received six prizes Eisner in the Best Cover of the Year nomination.
James Jean certainly has a lot to learn: not everyone is able to draw like that in different styles, and even prizes receive. On his website you can see, apparently, all of his works, sorted by year.

How birthday was celebrated among different nations and at different times
There are various hypotheses for the emergence of the tradition to celebrate the day of its birth. According to one of them, the forerunners of this holiday were the solemn rites of the warriors of Ancient Rome, who personified the cult of Mithra (the sun god). These included lavish plentiful meals, presenting gifts, and solemn speeches. According to the second version, the prototype of the celebration originated much earlier.
