At first glance, the drawings by American artist Tara Tucker seem like classic zoological illustrations. However, to each of the realistic images of animals, the author adds elements of the plant world, as a result of which amazing drawings are obtained that cannot be called ordinary in any way.
Tara Tucker's works are black and white pencil illustrations, where lush gardens are placed on the backs of animals and birds - turtles, ostriches, rhinos. As the artist herself says, her work is based on ideas related to "protection, food … and the like." “In a few days I will formulate my positions more clearly,” Tara promises in her blog, and, apparently, forgets about it, since there was no further explanation from her side. But the same blog contains a lot of drawings by the artist.
Although the artist herself does not speak about this, it can be assumed that her work is one of the variations on the theme of adaptation and survival of various species in the conditions of changing environmental conditions and its pollution. Interestingly, some of the drawings become a kind of sketches for the sculptural work of Tara Tucker. For example, this concerns images of sheep with trees on their backs.
Tara Tucker was born in 1970 in Santa Barbara (California, USA). He holds an MA in Sculpture from The California College of Arts & Crafts (1994).
