Ardent body art aficionados from all over the world have flocked to Auckland, New Zealand to take part in the prestigious 2009 New Zealand Body Art Awards held on July 25, 2009 at the Bruce Mason Center in Takapuna. An extravagant and uniquely colorful body art performance brought together talented and creative professionals, as well as lovers of this kind of art, eager to share their creative fantasies with the audience.
The NZ Body Art Awards festival of body art introduces audiences to contemporary styles, as well as motives of Aboriginal culture. Competitors and their models bring their creative creations to life in a variety of categories and nominations, including body art, ethnic costumes, special effects performances, fantasy-themed performances and artistic interpretations of Maori myths.
The theme of the annual art event was "Fantasia Asia", which presented the audience with a fantastic presentation of music, color and exotic dances. An exciting, fun, humorous body art show is a great chance for many aspiring artists who want to light up in the genre of body painting and make-up.
The money raised during the event goes to the NZ Body Art Trust to provide funding for education, popularize body art culture and industry, and create a network of professionals.
