In whatever city of which country and part of the world a person lives, he still has to walk every day, or rather, go to work. Except for children, retirees, disabled people, freelancers and owners of their own vehicles, of course. This means that at least once a day, each of us falls into the clutches of a nightmare phenomenon called "stampede in public transport." Metro, minibus, tram or bus - they all look the same at rush hour. How exactly - demonstrates a photo project of a German author Michael Wolf … The name of the project sounds quite ordinary: "Crush in Tokyo" (Tokyo Compression), and people are captured in photographs in their usual rush hour poses. The photographer took a series of photographs of the Japanese through the glass windows in the subway cars, and the public was able to once again see how we are all the same in our typical situations. Sleepy faces pressed against the glass, sad or tired eyes, a dull look, headphones in their ears … Isn't that what half of the Russian metro passengers look like at rush hour?

With his photographs from the Tokyo Compression series, the author demonstrates the humility with which people endure transport inconveniences, because they know that this is an integral part of their life, like taking out the trash, washing dishes or fixing shoes. And everyone endures this inconvenience as best he can, relieving his transport suffering with music from the player, a book, or a light nap, which will help save nerves while traveling from work to home and from home to work. Photos captivate with their simplicity and at the same time unusualness. The author seems to give us the opportunity to visit the crowded wagons and feel the crush and discomfort to which the people depicted in the photo are doomed.
