Creativity of an American artist and photographer Kelly McCollam is much more than beautiful photographs of wildlife and colorful landscapes. Unlike those photographers who simply shoot those picturesque landscapes with their camera that were "painted" by the hand of the Almighty, Kelly creates her own subjects on her own. And for this she does not need the tools of the artist - it is enough just to open spice box … Using toothpicks, wooden sticks, and even her own fingers instead of brushes, and instead of paint - salt, sugar, pepper, cinnamon, curry, turmeric, saffron, sesame seeds, dried herbs and many other spices, the artist "paints" her landscapes. Thanks to the dexterous fingers of Kelly McCall, spices and food colors form fields and mountains, grass and trees, a sky with clouds, a sunset over the sea, waterfalls and mountain rivers on a plain cardboard - everything that can be seen by opening your eyes wider and looking around.

Kelly McCallum has two series of works performed in this unusual technique. One of them is called Spice of life and from beginning to end is dedicated to the work of the great Maestro - Vincent Van Gogh. It would seem that too many modern authors imitate Van Gogh, wanting to earn a reputation and gain fame in the world of creativity. But Kelly McCallum rethought some of the master's paintings, painting them with seasonings and spices in a way that no one else did. That only is the famous "Starry Night", made of turmeric, cloves, cinnamon, table salt, food coloring and a pinch of cornflakes.

The second series is called Salt of the earth and no longer consists of "remakes" of famous paintings, but of the author's landscapes by Kelly McCallum. There is a romantic sunset, a lyrical rainy afternoon, blooming spring trees, and a cool river on a hot August day. Each such picture not only has its own mood, but also its own unique aroma, which is obtained from a mixture of various spices. Not to smell, but you can see these and other works of the artist on her website.
