The feat of Lefty, who managed to shoe a flea, is admired to this day. But more and more often it becomes known about the new followers of this master, who, however, are not blacksmiths, but artists and sculptors who create full-fledged works of art the size of a grain of rice. And sometimes - on rice grains. Surprisingly, whole landscapes, portraits and even poems are placed on tiny grains of rice. Such creativity is usually called micropainting and micro-engraving, and one of the masters of this genre, Andrei Rykovanov, lives not far from us, in the city of Omsk.

By the way, Andrey is actually left-handed. With his left hand, under a microscope, armed with a special micropainting brush made from just one hair, he paints rice grains, creating the world's smallest paintings.

The fame of the incredible artist has long been thundering abroad, since the very first exhibition of such mini-paintings took place almost 20 years ago in France, and the President of Egypt and his wife became the owners of their portraits on the cut of a grain of rice. Andrei Rykovanov prepared such a gift for the eminent couple when he held one of the exhibitions of his works in Egypt.

It should also be noted that the artist is the president of the public association "Microminiature Center" A. S. Pushkin ", therefore a lot of works in his collection are dedicated specifically to the work of Alexander Sergeevich.

In addition to rice grains, Rykovanov works with poppy seeds, with seeds from pears and plums, as well as with amber, rock crystal and other natural materials. Usually, mini-masterpieces are shown in crystal containers, thanks to which you can see what, in fact, the image or text is applied to the treated surface. These and other works by Andrey Rykovanov can be seen on his personal website.
