Video: Sarah Kargol's rag monsters

For American artist Sarah Kargol, her own four sons are not only a source of inspiration, but also co-authors of her work. It all started simply …
Taking as a basis some of the drawings of her children, Sarah set out to create three-dimensional creatures from ordinary monsters, drawn by a child's hand. At this point, various scraps of flannel, polyester, felt, old buttons and buttons that were kept by her mother, who worked as a seamstress, came in handy. Well, ready-made monsters were placed on her works.
According to Sarah, monsters are an ideal object for work that is aimed at the viewer, since each person can find in himself some quality that makes him akin to a monster. Thus, Sarah's works are addressed to each viewer individually, awakening some of their memories in him.
However, her monsters do not seem to be a threat to humans. Thanks to the author's selection of materials for monsters, they become comic, funny, amusing.
Special attention should be paid to parodies of famous works of art. I think it's not worth it, once again to say that the central figures in the parodies are also monsters created by Sarah "according to the drawings" of her children.
Among her works are parodies of famous paintings ("The Son of Man", "The Persistence of Memory", "Mona Lisa", "The Marriage of Arnolfini", "American Gothic", "The Scream", "The Birth of Venus"), on movie posters ("Charlie's Angels", "Jaws", "Rocky") and even in the photograph (photo "The Beatles" on "Abbey Road", famous photo of Twiggy)
