What will happen if you draw, it would seem. Creepy monsters and mutants funny, unusual and bright? It will turn out to be the life-work of the artist Diogo Machado, who paints beautiful / terrible eccentric creatures on paper, on walls, on skateboards, on wallets, on T-shirts, on toys and immortalizes them in sculptures. Some of these creatures are more serious, some are more funny, but they all bring joy to the viewer.
The funny monsters Diogo Machado are somewhat reminiscent of the noble zombies of Kira Shaimanova, probably in that the concept of horror, which is usually associated with such creatures, is completely replaced by the concept of laughter. It turns out a wonderful corporation of monsters that bring joy in their appearance.
Diogo Machado was born in 1980 and now lives and works in Portugal. In 2007, the name of a diploma in graphic design and several years of experience in this field, he decides to take a permanent job as an illustrator. Since then, his amusing, peace-loving creatures have appeared all over the world - in the form of paintings, illustrations, exhibitions, hand-drawn posters, designer toys, clothing, and in various media.
Diogo Machado's unique style has become easily recognizable in the world of graphic culture. Many of the artist's works are very complex, some differ in several possible interpretations. However, the main desire that drives Diogo in his work is the desire to entertain people. It essentially depends on the mood of the artist: his work can be more intricate, more serious, funnier, more conceptual, but the basic principle to bring joy to the viewer remains unchanged.
While searching for his creative path, Diogo Machado studied a lot of things: skate culture, street art, low-budget science fiction, watched a bunch of “b” movies, cartoons. Music also influenced him - from sweet reggae to harsh metal. Most of Diogo's time is spent drawing. Truth. He dabbled in vector graphics and photo manipulation, but eventually returned to freehand techniques. Now he combines different techniques. Diogo's monster corporation is really weird and funny. It's always nice when something terrible turns into something funny.
The artist's works in various forms - from illustrations on paper to drawings on skateboards - are available on his website.
