How would you feel if you happen to meet a dinosaur bear, giraffe horse, dinosaur, or bull rhino? Scared? Shocked and overwhelmed? Of course, in nature it is hardly possible to find such mutants, because after all, our ecology is bad, but not so much. But everyone can get acquainted with the scary animals at the exhibition at The artists house gallery in Tel Aviv, Israel, where an exhibition of works by Israeli artist, sculptor and designer Gad Charny is currently taking place until August 17, 2009 …
A series of works by sculptor Gad Czarna "Mutants" is created from ordinary cheap plastic dinosaur and animal figures that children love to play with. Initially simple and not particularly interesting sculptures transform and mutate, taking on ugly forms and becoming hybrids of an unknown species. Hybrids and mutants are a reflection of transformation and identity in relation to environmental and natural changes.
The exhibition "Mutants" by Israeli sculptor Gad Charna raises questions of identity and the hidden potential for transformation that exists in nature.
Gad Charny lives and works in Israel. He also has extensive experience in creating designer furniture and accessories.
