Do you think that yesterday's almost living sculptures by Evan Penny are terrible? So you haven't seen the works of art for which the Williamsburg-based artist and photographer Nina Levy is famous. She also works with silicone, her sculptures are also realistic, but … there are some peculiarities.
As I said, the beautiful Nina is not only a sculptor, but also a photographer. And if in her early works she used these two talents separately, as independent units, then recently the young lady prefers to combine them. The result is terrible things: babies with giant limbs, men and women with terrible mutations and deformities, cruel dismemberment games and other "delights" in the spirit of the most famous horror films.
Alas, in the biography of Nina there is no information about whether she is being treated in a mental hospital and what, in fact, is going on in the young lady's head if she is visited by such ideas for creative installations. But the most interesting thing is that Nina Levy's exhibitions and presentations are popular, which means that people are not disgusted to look at images of babies devouring the tiny heads of their own kind, or at the sculpture of a woman with … baby legs growing instead of breasts.
If you, too, are not afraid of such subjects, all this, and many more similar works can be found in the gallery on the official website of Nina Levy.

Of course, in nature it is hardly possible to find such mutants, because after all, our ecology is bad, but not so much. But everyone can get acquainted with the scary animals at the exhibition in the artists house gallery in Tel Aviv, Israel, where an exhibition of works by an Israeli artist is currently taking place until August 17, 2009
Silicone installations by Heike Weber
