If you haven't dined, the sculptures made by the American artist and sculptor Margie Livingston will remind you of the colorful caramels, soufflés, gummies, puddings and other mouth-watering sweets that can be seen in the windows of coffee shops and pastry shops. But I have to upset you: the skill of Margie Livingston may be somewhat reminiscent of the art of pastry chefs, but I really do not advise you to try creations by mouth. The artist creates her abstract sculptures from … frozen and baked acrylic paint … Typically, artists work with paints to create two-dimensional artwork. Margie decided to give paints a chance to rehabilitate, and to show what else they are capable of for the sake of art. And what is she capable of as a creator? As a result of various experiments, Margie Livingston came to the conclusion that paints, especially acrylics, are great for three-dimensional creations as well. True, for this you should carefully work with them. But the result is worth it.
Most of the acrylic sculptures that Margie creates are abstract. But in some works one can see quite objective images. For example, a long multi-colored sock that a grandmother knitted for her beloved grandson on the eve of cold weather. Or a group of dancing ghosts, forming a square within a square. Or even multicolored glossy magazines piled in a pile on a high chair. Just let your imagination run wild!
Atmospheric, unusual, and always very colorful sculptures of Margie give inspiration not only to her, but also to other creative people who love to decorate their studios and apartments with small abstract sculptures made of acrylic paint. In addition, recently, from "just sculptures", Margie has moved on to decorating furniture and household items with the same products made of baked paint. These and other works by the artist can be seen either at exhibitions or on her website.
