There are not many works in the collection of the Japanese artist Manabu Ikeda. However, each of his works is so abundant in small details that it is quite capable of replacing an entire picture gallery.
Manabu Ikeda creates his intricate paintings using a pen with a very fine and sharp nib. It takes an artist approximately 8 hours to paint a 10x10 cm part of an image. If you look closely at the details of the author's works, you will surely find many microworlds in each of the paintings. And some of the elements of the drawings are so small that a magnifying glass may be needed for better viewing.
With all the artist's attention to detail and miniature elements, his paintings themselves do not differ in small sizes. For example, one of his most famous works, 'Foretoken' (2008), is painted on canvas measuring 190x340 centimeters. It is even difficult to imagine how much information each work of Manabu Ikeda contains and how much labor was expended on its creation.
Manabu Ikeda was born in 1977 in the city of Saga (Japan). In 2000 he received his Master's Degree in Design from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. The artist currently lives and works in Tokyo.
