Works by a New York author Ethan Murrow can easily be mistaken for black and white photographs, processed in a fashionable retro style, which makes the photographs old for several decades. And then one could praise the author for the fact that he has perfectly mastered graphic editors and knows how to handle a camera. But if you look at the originals more closely, it immediately becomes clear: Ethan Murrow is a talented artist whose illustrations are so realistic that they can be on a par with photographs. With a Master of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina and a Bachelor of Arts from Carlton College, Ethan Murrow recognizes no other painting material than black graphite and white paper. The author's large-scale drawings are so thoroughly detailed that every wrinkle can be seen on people's faces, every vein on the leaves of trees, every grain of sand and every drop in the sea or lake on the beach. This formation of the author's style was largely influenced by the creative career of his wife, who is engaged in photography and directing films. Sometimes they work in pairs, filming short films and videos, creating scenery for performances. Ethan Murrow's short film, Dust, was the official selection at the 2008 New York Film Festival.
The talented illustrations of this artist are known all over the world, as the author has already received international recognition and is exhibited in such galleries as La Galerie Particulière in Paris, Winston Wachter in New York and Seattle, Obsolete in Los Angeles. Ethan Murrow has been featured in publications such as the Los Angeles Times and the Seattle Times, and his new work appears regularly in the Huffington Post.
Photorealistic illustrations by Ethan Murrow can be found in many collections of museums around the world, including the Guggenheim Foundation. You can learn more about the author's work on his website.
