If you plunge into a pool designed by Robert Vogland, you will surely be surprised by what you see. From ceramics, the artist lays out such realistic images at the bottom of reservoirs that it seems as if a real dolphin will jump out of the water or a huge turtle imposingly swims next to your foot …
A unique combination of craftsmanship and artistic taste allows Robert to create ceramic images that mimic the life of the underwater world, and the right use of colors and textures makes the images almost come alive. It is difficult to give a concrete definition to the author's works: saturated and blending colors make it possible to speak of images as frescoes; a huge number of small tiled parts, from which the images are laid out, suggest associations with mosaics, and the three-dimensionality of the works makes them look like sculptures.
The ceramic elements, from which Robert Wogland lays out the images on the bottom of the pools, the author creates himself. They do not always have a flat surface: the craftsman runs his fingertips over the still wet clay to achieve roughness and unevenness of the surface - ultimately this is evidence of handicraft, and also allows you to get a more realistic effect.
The idea to create such works came to Robert after he watched the rays of light creating patterns on the bottom of the pool. "I noticed completely arbitrary shapes that appeared for only a fraction of an instant, and decided to try to repeat them."
For the past seven years, Robert Wogland, who lives in Hawaii, has been creating his works to order. Therefore, at present, the works of the talented author can be seen not only at the bottom of reservoirs, but also on land: they decorate the floors, walls, entrance doors and even an oven in an Italian pizzeria.
