While some designers are struggling to create a lamp shade shape, others prefer not to make a lamp shade at all. Why stop the light from shining around the room?
British designer and artist Julian Mayor has created many works during his career, including lamps. This project, named "Framed Light", has neither a lampshade nor a beautiful leg, it attracts others. Although the device of such a lamp may seem too simple and boring, looking closer, you can understand that there is something special about it. And this, of course, is the frame. Using these thin rods, he created a frame that looks more like a polyhedron from a geometry or drawing textbook than a lampshade. But the advantages of such a solution are obvious - such a lamp will shine many times brighter than the one with a lampshade, even the most elegant and lightweight. It may be just a lamp, but surely many will appreciate this idea. Still, there is some sense in this - not to hide the light under the lampshade, like a mask, but to let out as much of it as possible.
The lamp will be on display at the Fat Galerie in Paris from 2nd April to 23rd May. In addition to this project, four other contemporary designers will present their works.
