Video: Realistic and expressive sculptures by Adam Bean

As soon as Adam Beane started sculpting, he came to the conclusion that there were no suitable materials to bring his ideas to life. But instead of giving up, the author invented such material on his own, and now creates stunning figurines depicting famous people and striking in their realism.
The material that Adam Bean works with is called CX5 (Compound X, generation 5). The author does not disclose its composition to the general public, preferring to talk about the properties of CX5, rather than about its components: “When it is warm, it is molded like clay; hot it can be poured into molds, and cold it can be cut and polished. I don't need any reinforcement regardless of the size of the sculpture. CX5 products can be melted and reused. It is a smooth and creamy substance, the parts of which adhere perfectly to each other without sticking to my hands. Is it any wonder, after this characterization, that Adam Bean considers the CX5 to be the ideal material for sculpting.
Among the sculptures of Adam Bean, there are mainly some celebrities: stars of sports, cinema and politics. Although the author works mostly to order (he is one of the leading sculptors of McFarlane Toys - a toy company), each of his works realizes one or another facet of his talent. For example, the creation of sculptures of athletes, according to the author, is a great opportunity to work with objects in motion. The author prefers to see his sculptures in monochrome, although all of them - before they hit the shelves - pass through the hands of artists and become colored.
Adam Bean began creating sculptures in 2002. As for the work itself, Adam says that he perceives himself more as an observer than as an active participant in the creative process: "The sculptor inside me controls my hands, while the rest of my part remains free to listen to audiobooks."
