Madeline von Foerster is a typical representative of this period. Critics say that her strange, unusual paintings, which she paints using the unique technique of the Renaissance, and to write which she was inspired by the Cabinet of Curiosities, save the world.
Madeline von Foerster was born in San Francisco. She has Austrian, German and Russian roots. She studied at an art school in Germany, then returned to San Francisco and entered an art college there.
She uses a special technique in painting, mixing oil paints with tempera. This technique was invented back in the Renaissance. Tempera is used to draw especially small details, and oil paints add realism. She is a very unusual person: she is inspired by the Cabinet of Curiosities, Jung, monsters, the Middle Ages, alchemy, and as a child she tried to find secluded corners in the apartment. This is probably why Madeline von Foerster paints such hard-to-explain pictures.
According to critics, Madeleine de Foster's paintings save the world. Perhaps it is so, it is not for nothing that the artist was inspired by the global problems of our time, such as deforestation, for her last works. Her paintings are very relevant for the postmodern period, because they combine the incompatible: surreal landscapes, fears of the Middle Ages, occult symbols.
“I wish I was working quite as much as I would like. I hope I will manage to live my life so that before I die I have a chance to paint my best picture. In the meantime, I hope that my work will bring more grace to the lives of those who see them. I also hope that creators from all over the world will cope with our difficult task - to save culture from destruction. Before everything worth living on this planet is cut or eaten,”says Madeleine.
