Video: Needlework instead of painting. Home landscapes-installations of Magdalena Bors
2024 Author: Richard Flannagan | [email protected]. Last modified: 2023-12-15 23:55
Artist Magdalena Bors lives in Belgium and devotes all her free time to needlework: knitting, weaving, embroidery … No, she is not at all an old retired woman who has only knitting needles and a TV set of all the entertainment. She is the author of unusual paintings, for the production of which she has to sit by a basket of needlework all day long.
However, what ultimately turns out with our needlewoman cannot be called paintings. These are no longer paintings, but not yet sculptures, but rather installations, since to create one work, Magdalena Bors combines knitting, appliqué, modeling and a lot of different techniques.
So what do we see? The author knits meadows and mountains that lie on the floor between the legs of the table from fluffy threads, houses of a noisy metropolis are built from clothespins, boxes of matches and bricks, canyons, rocky peaks and beaches - from a washcloth and paper, and a cave with sparkling crystals is completely created from a warm homemade blanket and coins and buttons scattered on the carpet.
Someone will say that this is not art at all, but a kind of entertainment that everyone can arrange in their apartment … Well, you can also try to arrange such entertainment for yourself, and if you get the beauty that landscapes represent- installations by Magdalena Bors, you too can become famous at home and abroad.

Starry sky instead of city illumination. Thierry Cohen's painting art project Darkened Cities
For us, residents of big cities, the starry sky has long seemed dark and dim. The illumination of the metropolis, hundreds of thousands of flashing headlights of cars, illuminated high-rise buildings and businesses, bright neon lights, street lamps and decorative garlands, deprives the townspeople of the pleasure of contemplating the twinkling of stars overhead, finding and viewing constellations, making wishes during a starfall. Only far from the city, in the forest or in the mountains, we discover the real beauty of the starry sky. What would we see
Instead of canvas - swan feathers. Unusual painting by Ian Davie
There is swan loyalty and swan song, swan neck and swan lake. And British artist Ian Davie added swan painting to this list. The artist paints very beautiful, but completely ordinary paintings depicting birds and butterflies, fish and animals, flowers and trees … Only he does it not on paper, fabric or glass, but on snow-white swan feathers, which he collects every year during molting these graceful, majestic birds.
