Ilya Ilf (real name - Ilya Arnoldovich Fayzilberg) graduated from a technical school and changed many professions - a draftsman, telephone operator, worker at an aircraft plant, statistician, editor of the comic magazine "Syndetikon", in which he published his poems under a female pseudonym, accountant. In 1923, Ilya became a professional writer, and after 2 years he met his future co-author Yevgeny Petrov. In the late 1940s, the books by Ilf and Petrov were banned because they "dumbfounded" the image of a Soviet man and sang the praises of "the Odessa lumpen, a rogue and a parasite." Only 7 years later, these immortal creations were returned from oblivion. On the writer's birthday, we publish notes from his working notebook.
