Most of the actors come to the set after receiving professional education. Many of them make their debut on the stage, and then begin film careers. But there are exceptions to the rule: in Soviet cinema, there were many examples of how teachers failed to discern acting talent in those who soon became a legend. Who was not admitted to theatrical universities, and who did not try to get there - further in the review.
Probably, only his father, who was the head of the theater group, believed in Yuri Nikulin's acting talent. After school Nikulin was drafted into the army, where he served for 7 years - from 1939 to 1946. He went through the whole war, while dreams of the stage never left him. In the last year of service, Nikulin was engaged in staging amateur performances and organizing concerts. After that, he decided to enter VGIK, but neither there, nor in other theatrical universities, none of the teachers believed that he could become an actor: with one voice everyone said that he had talent and artistry, but at the same time he was completely not suitable for cinema. Then Nikulin was forced to submit documents to the clownery studio at the Moscow Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard. This decided his fate, forever linking her with the circus. But Nikulin still got into the cinema - when the director needed a comedic character for the filming of the film "The Girl with the Guitar". In this role, Nikulin looked very convincing, and since then he was often offered similar roles. So the legendary artist proved that it is possible to start a film career even at 36 years old.
Iya Savvina loved literature since childhood and dreamed of entering the philological faculty of Moscow State University. But when she arrived in Moscow, it turned out that the admission of medalists to the philological faculty had already ended, and the girl entered the faculty of journalism. In parallel with her studies, Savvina took part in productions of the student theater of Moscow State University. On the university stage, the actor Alexei Batalov noticed her for the first time. Together with the director Joseph Kheifits, they had been looking for the main character for a role in the film "Lady with the Dog" for several months, and the unprofessional young actress seemed to him an ideal candidate. The director was skeptical about this idea, Iya herself did not believe in the success of this venture, but the film debut turned out to be very successful - her work was awarded a special prize at the International Film Festival in Cannes. Since then, Savvina continued to act in films, mastering the basics of the acting profession right on the set.
Innokenty Smoktunovsky has been in love with theater since childhood. True, his debut on stage ended in complete failure: on the day of the premiere of the performance of the school drama club, the 6th grade student was so nervous that he burst out laughing with excitement right on the stage and was never able to play his role. As a result, he was kicked out of the circle. But his dreams of the theater did not leave him: he got a job as an extra in the theater, entered the school of projectionists, but then the war began, which ruined all his plans. Smoktunovsky went to the front, and classes in the theater studio at the Krasnoyarsk theater were resumed only after the end of the war. At first, the lack of professional training bothered him very much: on stage he was squeezed, his speech was too quiet and indistinct. Due to conflicts with the director, a year later, Smoktunovsky was expelled from the theater. The directors did not believe in his talent for a long time, he was denied in all the capital's theaters. The first success came to him only at the age of 32, when Georgy Tovstonogov believed in his talent and gave the main role in the play "The Idiot". After the premiere, Smoktunovsky woke up famous. At the same time, he made his film debut - in the short film How He Lied to Her Husband and the film Soldiers. And all-Union popularity came to him in the mid-1960s, after the release of the films Mozart and Salieri, Hamlet and Beware of the Automobile.
Tatiana Peltzer was born into the family of a famous actor and director, who was not only her father, but also her main teacher and mentor. She adopted the basics of the acting profession from him. Lack of special education hindered her career. The non-professional actress was admitted to the auxiliary staff of the Theater. Mossovet, but was soon fired for incompetence. At the age of 30, she began working as a typist, worked for a long time at the Likhachev plant, but then she returned to the theater. True, she was offered only supporting roles. Tatiana Peltzer's film debut took place only in 1943, when the 39-year-old actress got a small cameo role in the film She Defends the Motherland. Then her name was not even in the credits. She played her first big role at the age of 41, in the film "Ordinary People", while the picture lay on the shelf for 11 years. Recognition came to her almost 50 years old!
After school, Savely Kramarov was not admitted to any of the theatrical universities - neither his appearance nor his abilities made any impression on the examiners. Then he had to enter the Moscow Forestry Institute. For some time he worked in his specialty, but continued to dream of filming a movie. And then Kramarov decided to take a desperate step: he sent his photographs to all film studios in the country. And unexpectedly for myself, I received an invitation to the role of soldier Petkin in the film "They were nineteen …". So at the age of 25, he began his film career. And the first resounding success came to him at the age of 32, after filming the movie "The Elusive Avengers". Only in 1972, at the age of 38, Kramarov entered GITIS and received an acting education. But even after that, he was not accepted into any of the theaters.
Unfortunately, the creative destiny of the actor was not happy: Why Savely Kramarov lost his viewer and the love of a woman whom he could not forget until the end of his days.
