German-based artist Andreas Preuss has created a series of drawings about what you can learn from animals. Each work in the series of illustrations is a call to action. Detailed portraits of animals and birds are supplemented with motivating captions: “Smile”, “Love”, “Trust”, “Think”, “Fight”, “Learn”.
Andreas Preis is a graphic designer and illustrator based in Berlin. Like many convinced creators, he says that he has been painting for as long as he can remember, and dreamed of becoming an artist from a young age. He always liked to paint portraits, to look for depth and expressiveness in the expressions of human faces. The same applies to the animals depicted in the series of motivational drawings.
As a child, Andreas Preuss told his parents that he dreamed of becoming a freelance artist without a boss. But it took quite a long time to fulfill the old dream. After an internship and work in a large advertising agency, our hero focused on illustration and does not regret it.
Andreas Preuss draws with markers and pencils. The creative process, as usual, consists of sketches, first editions, scanning, retouching and mixing all this together in Photoshop. The artist believes that working on a series of drawings is best done with music. Electronic music, metal, hip-hop - it all depends on the mood of the author.
The reaction of viewers to color illustrations can be very diverse. The strangest response that an artist has ever received is that someone shed a tear from his work. Andreas Preuss still cannot understand whether this is good or bad. After all, his works are more life-affirming than touching.
According to Andreas Preis, the main thing in an artist's work is not to allow plagiarism, but to use other people's work only as a source of inspiration. In addition, it is important not to overdo it with the desire to stand out and demonstrate your originality, but simply do what you want without trying to prove anything to anyone.
