Art, like love, knows no boundaries or obstacles. If you want to draw, draw. No paints - draw with a pencil or a pen, lipstick or ink, ketchup or mustard … For example, the Albanian artist Saimir Strati, about whom we have already written, lays out his pictures from screws, toothpicks and corks. A self-taught American artist Wander Martich "drew" a coin with the image of Abraham Lincoln, using … all the same coins from her own piggy bank, which she collected for several years. True, initially collecting coins was not associated with creativity. It happened unexpectedly, as well as the fact that several years ago Vander Matrich was left without work, without housing, without money and without a husband, alone with two daughters in her arms. This was the most difficult period in her life, and then she made it a rule to save a coin in the piggy bank every week. And even when a woman found a new job, this habit did not change.

As a result, over 5 years in the piggy bank, which turned into a kind of savings fund of the Martich family, several hundred thousand coins were collected, which the woman decided to use in a very peculiar way. Mindful of the fact that the ruble protects a penny, she decided to reproduce a copy of a coin with the image of Lincoln from coins. Selecting the most beautiful specimens of the "collection", she pasted them on a huge round board with a diameter of 2.5 meters, spending three months on this venture and working 10-14 hours a day.

22 packages of glue and 840 thousand coins resulted in a giant copy of a coin with a portrait of Abraham Lincoln weighing 500 kg. By the way, in order to complete her project, Vander Martich was forced to turn to the United States Mint: she did not have enough shiny new coins to correctly reproduce the image of Lincoln. Of course, they helped her, since at that time almost all major Michigan newspapers had already written about a large-scale art project. By the way, a woman is not averse to selling her work to some gallery or museum, and hopes to help out for her efforts … 840 dollars.
