Ekaterina Panikanova Is a talented Russian artist who creates magnificent paintings using old books as a canvas. A series of her works entitled Errata Corrige (which in translation means "Working on mistakes") - these are tremulous childhood memories, captured on the pages of textbooks and abstracts.

Ekaterina Panikanova was born in St. Petersburg in 1975 and received her art education at the Hermitage Museum's School of Arts. She is a laureate of numerous competitions, has repeatedly received high awards for her work. She is one of the members of the creative association "Polyrealism", which is characterized by a combination of strict academicism with sharp experiments in the field of form.

Now the talented artist lives and works in Rome, continuing to amaze viewers not only with traditional paintings, but also with similar unusual projects. Errata Corrige is a bold creative experiment in which a large image is placed on multiple book spreads. Pages are not pinned, so from time to time they can turn over, giving rise to bizarre futuristic combinations. From a distance, such composite pictures resemble a coded message or a puzzle, which must be folded from disparate parts.

The artist herself notes that the development of a creative personality is like the formation of a pearl inside a shell. A grain of sand, getting into it, causes irritation, but over time turns into a jewel, in the same way the artist in childhood receives certain psychological trauma, experiences, "processes" them throughout his life - and then gives out to the audience.

By the way, Ekaterina Panikanova (more of her works can be found on her personal site) is not the only artist who creates drawings by applying them to existing texts. On the site Kulturologiya.ru we have already talked about another master who prefers book pages to white canvas. The works of Australian Loui Jover are very close to the paintings of our compatriot.
