Black and white are two colors that perfectly reflect the state of mind, two opposites on which all human relationships are based. In art, these two colors appear in all forms - from photographs to digital art. Johanna Basford expertly uses these colors to create amazing ink drawings on paper and more.
Black and white colors, as mentioned above, are the optimal colors to reflect the soul and essence of the work. Nothing extra. It is worth remembering once again Donata Wenders and black and white photos. And if we talk about ink drawings (and Joanna is certainly not the first in this field), it is worth remembering the gloomy works of Timothy Hon Hung.
But Joanna is certainly equally talented. Through her ink pen, a lot of details, beauty and mystery are poured onto paper (as well as dishes and much more).
The artist herself calls all her work “Black and White Wonderland”. She combines the work of a designer, illustrator and typographer, dreaming of conquering the whole world with her drawings. Johanna Basford loves Alice in Wonderland, raspberry jam, sweet peas, Lady Gray tea.
The girl grew up on a fish farm in Scotland, and her work is based on a love for everything pretentious and a preference for familiar techniques for creativity, like the same pen or pen, computer vector technology. Many of her works are inspired by the flora and fauna of County Aberdeen, where she grew up.
She works at the intersection of several disciplines, creating her various surface designs for everything: beer bottles, wallpaper, ceramics, album covers, even human skin. Her clients include Johnson and Johnson, BBC, Hallmark and many others.
An extensive portfolio can be viewed on her website.

Black, white and more Creative advertising for Green & Black's chocolate
“Life is like a box of chocolates: you never know what filling you will get” - this phrase from the movie “Forest Gump” has become a catch phrase for a long time. And even if we are not talking about a chocolate assortment, but about a completely "understandable" bar of this delicacy, then there is often something to be surprised at. At least advertising posters
Perfection and grace of the human body: black and white photographs by an original author
Viki Kollerova's photographs are mysterious and definitely distinctive black-and-white photographs that play up the human body, its elegance, its perfection and its uniqueness. One of the people who inspired Vicki to her work, she calls Marina Abramovich, and this lack of principle in relation to her body, the desire to learn new things and go beyond the limits of what is permissible is very much felt in the works of the photographer
How black and white photographic landscapes brought fame to the artist and provided him with fame outside the Earth: Ansel Adams
Economic crises, international conflicts, wars and epidemics - what can attract more attention than these unpleasant and extremely important events for humanity? This question did not arise now, and once, in really difficult times, the photographer Ansel Adams found his answer. Whether he is right or not is up to everyone to decide for himself, but this man inscribed his name in history, and also in the hearts of millions of ordinary people, admirers of his talent
Tornadoes, storms, tornadoes and thunderclouds in black and white photographs by Mitch Dobrauner
No matter how great a person is, the only force with which it is very difficult for him to cope is the force of nature. Natural disasters occur with unenviable regularity in the world, in which mankind often fails. The United States can rightfully be called one of the countries that is in a constant "risk zone", and the Californian photographer Mitch Dobrowner is a real genius of thunderclouds
Peace and symmetry: Kai Tsil's soothing black-and-white shots
The black-and-white photographs of the German photographer Kai Tsil have neither vivid colors nor vivid emotions. They have only restrained tones and people who are pleasant to observe from afar, attributing to them joy and suffering depending on their own mood. You can freely fantasize, because in the twilight that reigns in black and white photographs, faces are still not visible
