V Harrogate (UK) there is a house with a small garden plot, in different corners of which there are numerous animals made of ordinary wire. All this is the work of one single woman named Chris Moss.
As often happens, the fateful decision on the choice of the main occupation in life was made by chance. Chris Moss was going to make a figure out of papier-mâché, and to make a frame for it, she took a piece of wire and began to bend it. This prosaic moment became decisive in her life. Working with the wire, Chris appreciated the simplicity of the method and the ability to quickly see results.
Artistic style Chris Moss was greatly influenced by her passion for drawing. At one time, she received a bachelor's degree in fine arts and was engaged in teaching. In her own words, drawing is a way of knowing the surrounding world through its image. And the creation of shapes from wire is a natural continuation of this process, but already in three-dimensional space.
Remaining "honest nature" Chris Moss extremely rarely creates images of fantastic creatures and those animals that do not live within the UK. In her works, she strives first of all to ensure that the figure looks lively, natural and unique.
Currently Chris Moss successfully participates in numerous exhibitions, teaches in workshops and schools. In addition to the animal kingdom, in her works, she begins to master the plant world, and possibly the creation of human figures.
Chris Is not the only one to take the art of wire sculpture to incredible heights. It is worth noting the masters already known to us: Kevin Iris and Ken To. Unlike dynamic works Chris Moss, their sculptures are meditative and static.
