Breaking stereotypes is always interesting. Who said, for example, that photography is a separate direction of art, while sculpture is something completely different? "What about sculptural photography?" - thought Szymon Roginski and Kasia Korzeniecka and showed us that everything is possible in the art world!
Shimon and Kasia created their unusual series of photographs for the spring-summer 2009 fashion collection by the famous Polish designer Ania Kuczynska (series "O Mia O"). According to the authors, they were inspired to create such works by Cubism, an avant-garde trend in the visual arts that originated in the early 20th century.
“We tried to dispel the notion of two-dimensionality in photography in the same way that Cubist artists tried to dispel the notion of two-dimensionality in painting,” the authors say. At the first stage of the work, the models in designer clothes were photographed against the background of certain landscapes. The images were then printed, cut into pieces and made into three-dimensional shapes of various shapes. From the resulting figures, the original picture was again folded and photographed. The 3D photo is ready.
