"Regeneration Gap" is the title of a new installation by Canadian artist Jarod Charzewski, which is on display at the Pari Nadimi Gallery in Toronto from March 14 to April 25, 2009. The exhibition features three major works by the Canadian, each of which is a cross-section of a hypothetical landscape made up of several geological layers created from the clothing itself.
The stunning exhibition of Yarod Khazhevsky consists of three gigantic, neatly stacked piles of old, worn things. When viewed from a certain corner of the gallery, the descending heap becomes like a landscape - a curious reproduction of the rural Manitoba landscape where the artist spent every summer in his youth. If we look at this entire installation up close, the whole bale is methodically laid out in layers of clothes of certain colors. The lower levels are made up of denim clothing (which symbolizes water), while the upper levels are always orange or red, representing the color of the earth. At the very top of the structure - folded T-shirts, shirts, blouses of a greenish hue, which are a symbol of green plants.
The installation "Regeneration Gap" carries a certain message, revealing the buying habits of the North American consumer, to meet the needs of which it is necessary to use the resources of our planet, which are filled with unnecessary trash and discarded things. Yarod Khazhevsky graduated from the University of Minnesota, his solo exhibitions were held in Toronto and Winnipeg. The artist currently teaches sculpture at the Charleston College of Art School.
