Many airlines work with renowned design firms to develop liveries (special designs for aircraft) for them. But Finnair went a little different way. From now on, one of her airliners decorated not a unique design pattern created specifically for the customer, but a well-known flower image developed by the studio Marimekko back in 1964. It is not enough to launch a new, luxurious plane to make passengers feel as comfortable as possible when flying - for this, you also need to collect a huge set of factors. After all, a person's final impression of a trip may be due not only to soft chairs, but also to the level of service - the courtesy of the stewards and even the design of the dishes in which food and drinks are served during the flight.
All this is well understood by Finnair, which has decided to cooperate in terms of the visual component of its flights with the world famous Finnish design company Marimekko.
For starters, Marimekko has created a livery for Finnair's Airbus A340, which runs between Helsinki and Asian cities. Moreover, the main element of the drawing on it was a stylized flower, created by one of the company's artists back in 1964. Since then, it has become a true Marimekko calling card.
This flower will also decorate various elements inside the Finnair aircraft itself - blankets, steward uniforms, bags, headrests, towels, souvenirs and even dishes.
What's more, Studio Marimekko has developed an original line of food and drink dispensers during the flight. All in all, Finnair passengers will plunge into a world of modern design, a world where every element is well thought out and visually perfect.
And in the spring of 2013, the design company Marimekko will paint another Finnair airliner - the cooperation continues!
And the Turkish air carrier Turkish Airlines recently decorated a Boeing 737 plane with photos of 17 thousand of its employees. As you can see, everyone has their own way to stand out from the competition.
