Hike in maze - it is always a challenge to the unknown, and besides, it is a certain risk. And the risk is considerable - especially if there is a Minotaur lurking in the middle of your maze, or, even worse, your guide is a man named Harris. But today we will not talk about gloomy dungeons, but about a huge cornfield near York, which also moonlights as a labyrinth, and also as a giant green painting.
The York Corn Maze is primarily one and a half million plants, covering an area equivalent to 15 Wembley Stadiums. But the owners of this field are not too interested in the views of the harvest: they have turned their corn into one of the main tourist attractions in the English county of Yorkshire, not inferior to the local famous castles, palaces and museums. Because you can travel in it for hours!
It should be admitted that cornfield - the perfect base for a green labyrinth. The stalks of maize reach a height of 3 meters, so that a person, even if he jumps, will not see the landmarks. You can wander for a long time! However, specially built towers help to navigate in the York Maze.
And also corn, unlike shrubs, does not need to be groomed and cherished for decades - it will grow every year anyway. Thanks to this interesting feature of the cornfields, the York Maze appears every year in a new guise - from Harry Potter to the Statue of Liberty. In the picture, whatever it may be, the key is encrypted that allows you to find the treasure - just like at the festival of garden scarecrows we just described.
In addition to walking through the labyrinth, the owners York cornfield have come up with a lot of entertainment for tourists. Here are just a few of them: the competition, who will quickly roll a hundred meters of turf in a lump; a concert in support of corn; Night of the Naked Corners (sponsored by the British Nudist Association); the championship of eating corn and its derivatives, Halloween fireworks, and so on. This busy program stretches throughout August and until mid-autumn - until harvest time comes.
