Bonsai and fantasy epic lover of John R. R. Tolkien, artist Chris Guise, created a miniature replica of the house Bilbo Baggins, the hero of the book "The Hobbit, or There and Back Again." The dwelling of the fairy-tale character, incredibly cozy, but cramped by human standards, has become even smaller and is located in the shade of a tree grown in the form of a bonsai.
It was no coincidence that Bilbo Baggins' house became a source of inspiration for Chris. It is there that the famous mission to save the fabulous Middle-earth from the forces of evil begins and ends. This journey is at the heart of the plot of Tolkien's famous books The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, familiar to many from the incredibly successful film adaptations. In addition, Bilbo's house is one of the brightest examples of home coziness and comfort in the entire history of literature and cinema.
Chris Gaiz began work on his work two years ago, taking as a model Bilbo's house in the form in which it was presented in the latest film versions of the fantasy epic. First, he acquired a suitable tree, and then began the long and painstaking work of "dissecting" it. The art of bonsai is a real test for accuracy and patience, because any unnecessary action can lead to the death of the plant. Having successfully coped with this part of the work, Chris independently made every single element of the composition: he assembled a miniature door from chips, hewed out every brick from a piece of tile, carved a door handle out of metal, poured a hill, and even planted moss in the smallest cracks and cracks. To make the design look natural, some parts had to be redone several times. And after completing this long and laborious work, Chris did not deny himself a little liberty, imagining what the cozy house of Bilbo Baggins would look like in winter.
In the art world, you can still find many enthusiasts who fantasize with the authors of books about The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. Among them are already known to us Angela Rizza and the Japanese Halno.

Why Pope Benedict IX was called "a demon in the guise of a priest" and the worst Pope in history
“A demon from hell in the guise of a priest,” these words, written in the 11th century by the reformer monk and cardinal Peter Damiani, do not refer at all to some depraved cleric and not even to a bishop with “sinful souls”. In fact, Damiani was talking about the most important person in the Catholic religion - Pope Benedict IX. He was the youngest priest ever to hold office and the most controversial Pope in the papacy's 2,000-year history
Who was hiding under the guise of an Alien: How a Yoruba guy reincarnated as an evil monster
The whole world knows this man, but at the same time almost no one saw his face and does not remember his name. He had a gentle and even character, but his only role in cinema became truly nightmarish: a guy without special education and stunt training managed to create an image that is still considered one of the most terrible in the history of cinema
Home for the Hobbit: Steve and Christina Michaels' burrow house
“There was a hobbit in a hole underground. Not in a filthy, dirty and damp burrow, where there is nothing to sit on and nothing to eat, but also not in empty sandstone, where it is full of worms. No, it was a hobbit hole, which means it was comfortable and comfortable. " It's not just JRR Tolkien's story that begins with these words. This is a kind of epigraph from the website of Steve and Christina Michaels - the spouses who opened the hotel for Tolkienists. First of all, future guests are asked if their legs are hairy, and only then they are invited to go

It's no secret that monsters and demons, vampires and werewolves, zombies and ghosts do not exist in the real world. All this is a figment of the imagination of dreamers, storytellers and screenwriters. But in every fairy tale there is some truth, which means that sooner or later, each of us will have to face something unknown. Moreover, danger, first of all, should be expected from oneself, and here we are talking about our inner demons. This is the theme of the Inner Demons exhibition by Australian artist Meggs
Actress shadow. Photographic project Russ and Reyn
Shadow is a mystical spatial and optical phenomenon that appears to us in the form of a dark mysterious silhouette. The shadow is a mystery and a great actress. She plays with light and can transform into any image and perform any performance.
