Evolution project from a Luxembourg-based photographer Patrick Gries - this is a series of pictures in which you can see more than 250 skeletons of various birds, fish, animals and even people. All of these are exhibits at the Museum of Natural History in Paris. It took Patrick Gries six months to create the original images: on a minimalist black background, the skeletons look like sculptures.
Patrick Gras masterfully blurs the line between science and art, turning museum exhibits into art objects. And now we have before us real works of art created by the greatest sculptor - Nature - in the process of the natural evolution of organisms.
The photographer boldly experiments, creating whole sculptural compositions from skeletons. For example, viewers can see a rider on a horse or a bird with prey in the key. Monochromatic portraits allow you to focus on the structure of living organisms, to show what path of development they have passed, what is common and different in certain species.
The illustrations turned out to be so interesting and informative that it was decided to print the photo cycle "Evolution" as a separate edition. Famous documentary scientist Jean-Baptiste de Panafieu wrote comments on the book.
By the way, the photographs of Patrick Gris are very close in style to the works of Nick Brandt, who captured the skeletons of birds on the shores of the ominous Lake Natron in Tanzania.
