How did the Russian bohemia of the 19th century live? Literature and, it would seem, bookish passions, which, at the same time, raged not only on the pages of novels, but also in life. One of the notable figures of this period was the poet and the owner of the literary salon Nina Petrovskaya … Her fate is full of contradictions, ups and downs … She was fascinated Andrey Bely and Valery Bryusov, in the first she fired from a revolver after parting, the second killed her with a word in the novel "Fiery Angel" …
Nina Petrovskaya lived a short and difficult life. In her youth, she graduated from dental courses, but she became interested in literature, began to visit literary salons, and, of course, tried to write herself. The girl was not devoid of poetic talent, and her poems were published in such magazines as "Libra", "Golden Fleece" and others. Nina was pretty, and soon charmed the symbolist Andrei Bely. Rumors immediately spread about their romance, it was rumored around that the spiritualized poet was worthy of more than his completely earthly muse.
Nina Petrovskaya at first patiently endured reproaches, even decided to wear a rosary with a cross, presented to her by Andrei Bely. True, this romance did not last long: soon the poet decided to leave and did not even want to hear about Nina's suffering. At first, the rejected beauty tried to arouse jealousy in her lover, showing signs of attention to other visitors to the literary salon. When it became clear that all this was in vain, Nina decided to shoot the man who offended her. Nina shot at Bely with a revolver during an open lecture, the weapon misfired, and the poet survived. For Nina, he has been dead since then …
Valery Bryusov became the second painful love of Nina Petrovskaya. A writer with a demonic nature won her heart, she fell in love with him and with his work. Petrovskaya became the prototype of Renata, the heroine of Valery Bryusov's hoax novel "The Fiery Angel". For some time, Nina's life was inseparable from this literary work: she tried to imitate the heroine and even temporarily took the name Renata and converted to Catholicism. When Bryusov "killed" his heroine, it became obvious that their relationship with Nina was over.
The further fate of Nina Petrovskaya is regrettable. She experienced severe depression, abused alcohol, tried morphine. Nina brought herself to exhaustion and soon left Moscow. For treatment, she went to Europe, where she lived her last years in poverty, not getting rid of her addictions. Not seeing a gap, Nina tried several times to commit suicide. The first time she threw herself out of the hotel window, having received a serious leg injury, the second time she tried to get infected with cadaveric poison from the body of her deceased sister (through a pin prick), and the third time she turned on the gas in the hotel room. The third time turned out to be fatal, Nina Petrovskaya was found dead on February 23, 1928. So ingloriously ended the life of a talented Russian poetess at the age of 49 …
Many love unions among 19th century bohemians were tragic. So, strange family union of Alexander Blok and Lyubov Mendeleeva also touched Andrei Bely, who all his life was looking for the embodiment of the image of the Beautiful Lady in an earthly woman …

Our teeth do not belong to the category of eternal values, and sooner or later you have to say goodbye to them. More precisely, early at first, and then late.
