Archaeologists around the world froze in anticipation: perhaps, at last, the tomb of the legendary Queen Nefertiti has been found in the tomb of Tutankhamun. The Valley of the Kings was closed to tourists for several days, during which time researchers carefully scanned the walls of Tutankhamun's tomb at five different heights, using two different radar antennas operating at frequencies of 400 and 900 megahertz.
Immediately after the researchers finished their work, they stated that they were able to obtain the most detailed data on the tomb since its discovery.
Dr. Nicholas Reeves, examining the high-resolution scans of the walls, noticed something that looked like a secret passage. The rectangular contour of the door, which was once walled up, is clearly visible on the wall of the tomb. The doctor believes he also found evidence that there is a passageway outside the door that leads to another cell. This may well be a separate chamber for the burial of a woman, and there is a high probability that the remains of Queen Nefertiti, who could be the mother of the pharaoh, are buried in one of the hidden chambers.
The two hidden cameras found during the scan were designated "zone 1" and "zone 2". In "zone 1", as scientists believe, contains metals and organic matter, and in "zone 2" - organic matter. It is worth noting that until the cameras were opened, it is not known what kind of organic matter it is. It is also important to note that the walls of the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun are plastered and can easily hide other secret passages. Nicholas Reeves believes that in one of the chambers behind the northern wall of the tomb is the tomb of Queen Nefertiti.
He justifies this by the fact that Tutankhamun died at a young age (at the age of 19) and it is quite possible that he was buried in the tomb of the queen, who died about 10 years earlier. It is assumed that the death of Tutankhamun came as a surprise to his family, so there was no time to build a separate burial chamber for him. Interestingly, today the mystery is why the young Pharaoh died. A lot of theories have been put forward, but there is no evidence.
In fact, the life and death of Tutankhamun and his family is a mystery that can only be guessed after millennia. The father of the young ruler was Pharaoh Akhenaten, but it is still unknown who his mother was. DNA testing, which has recently begun to be carried out, is beginning to help unravel the tangle of past relationships between people whose mummified remains are found today in the Valley of the Kings. The mummy, which was found in the tomb of Amenhotep II, was recognized as Queen Tia, mother of Pharaoh Akhenaten and grandmother of Tutankhamun.
The third mummy, which was found nearby, after a comparative DNA analysis, was recognized as the wife and sister of Tutankhamun named Ankhesenamun (yes, he was married to a sister). The total incest that was observed at that time (the father of Tutankhamun, Akhenaten was also married besides Nefertiti to his sister), may explain the deformities with which Tutankhamun was born. The hidden cameras inside the pharaoh's tomb have generated a lot of interest from the archaeological community. Everyone hopes for an early autopsy.
