When Nonnie Was Diagnosed breast cancer, her daughter was looking for a way not only to provide the necessary treatment, but also to inspire her mother not to give up and fight the disease. To do this, she started a photo project in which Scout (Nonnie's granddaughter) posed in the images of famous women who have achieved a lot in life. The three-year-old baby turned out to be just a great model, and her photo was an excellent support for her beloved grandmother.

The author of the photo project Ashley says that the work fascinated her from the first day, because she had the opportunity to escape from dreary thoughts, stop constantly thinking about the mortal danger that hung over her mother Nonnie. When Scout saw Nonnie losing her hair after chemotherapy, the baby was very worried. Then Ashley decided to use examples to tell her about how strong women can be, and that they can be real fighters.

Together with her daughter Ashley, she remembered the stories of strong and famous women, made a list and began preparing for filming. It took a little over a year to implement the project. During this time, Nonnie was on examinations, underwent intensive treatment, survived a mastectomy (surgery to remove the breast).

Ashley, Nonnie and Scout tried not to lose heart, it was assumed that when the photo session was over, the pictures would be formatted into a book. One copy will be donated to Nonnie, and the second will remain in memory of the model herself. When they really managed to do this, the joy of all three knew no bounds, because they showed from their own experience how women can emerge victorious from the most difficult situations in life.

Ashley said about the photo project: “He taught me and my daughter a lot. I really want Scout to understand that women are as strong as men. And, frankly, I hope that by the time she grows up and realizes what power she embodies in these pictures, women will no longer be perceived only as gentle and affectionate creatures. And the Scout herself will be proud of who she is in these pictures and who she will become."

Today, Nonnie is proud that she still managed to defeat the disease, in some pictures Scout poses with her grandmother, because it was she who gave the baby a real lesson in courage.

Cancer patients need support and understanding as much as medication. The Mimi Foundation has conducted an experiment: stylists and makeup artists worked on the patients' appearance. The reaction of people who saw themselves as completely different is priceless. The project "If only for a second …" could return carelessness to cancer patients!
