The current Olympic Games are 28 in a row. They were first held in Greece in 1896 and since then 19 different countries have hosted the competition. But what is happening now with all these powerful structures built specifically for the Olympic Games in all these countries? Our review contains photographs of stadiums, Olympic villages, swimming pools and other structures that were once at the very epicenter of Olympic events. From China to Germany, from Athens to Atlanta, the images show what the Olympic sports facilities look like today.

An unused bobsleigh track is located on Trebevich Mountain near Sarajevo. Most of the Olympic facilities are in a dilapidated state, as they were left unattended after the conflict in the 1990s.

It was from this springboard that the Swiss athlete Andreas Dasher applied a new type of jump, which would later become known as the Dasher method. Prior to these competitions, athletes jumped with their arms above their heads. Dasher was sure that the arms should be kept along the body. Adherents of this method of jumping most often win the competition.

The Olympic Village, designed to accommodate more than 4,000 athletes, was later used to host German troops when the war broke out. In 1945, Soviet troops were stationed in this village.

Talismans are scattered like rubbish next to an abandoned unfinished shopping center in Beijing. Huge funds were spent on the Olympics, but many projects were never completed, and what was built on time fell into disrepair after the end of the games.

15. Tennis court. Atlanta, USA. Summer Olympics 1996

All tennis facilities became unnecessary immediately after the end of the Olympic Games. Now, 20 years later, the courts are overgrown with grass, the nets are rotten, all the equipment is unnecessary.

However, there is no shortage of spectators during the games themselves - the whole world is watching the achievements of athletes. From time to time, some really interesting events take place at competitions, we have collected a few of them in our review "10 unusual cases from the history of the Olympic Games".
